Non-profit organization founded by lung cancer survivor and life-long Kentuckian joins efforts spearheaded by Kentucky Radon Coalition to prevent radon-induced lung cancer
Louisville, KY, June 23, 2020 – The Kentucky Association of Radon Professionals announced today that Breath of Hope Kentucky, an organization founded by lung cancer survivor and life-long Kentuckian, Lindi Campbell, has joined the fight against radon in Kentucky. Radon, a colorless, odorless, naturally occurring radioactive gas is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers in Kentucky, second overall to smoking. Claiming the lives of more than 500 Kentuckians each year, some areas of the state contain hazardous concentrations of the cancer-causing gas in as many as 2/3 of all buildings.
“We’re excited to announce that Breath of Hope Kentucky has joined our coalition,” said Kyle Hoylman, President of the Kentucky Association of Radon Professionals. “Partnering with organizations to prevent radon-induced lung cancer and save lives is the reason we established the Kentucky Radon Coalition, and Breath of Hope Kentucky aligns perfectly with our mission.”
Breath of Hope Kentucky founder, Lindi Campbell, added, “Our core focus on early detection and prevention, increasing survivorship, and erasing the stigma of lung cancer are all supported within the coalition, and we’re excited to begin working with other members to have an impact on the lives of Kentuckians being exposed to hazardous concentrations of radon.”
